The little car that could errr.... uh....didn't

Dallin and Mike spent hours getting this little car ready.Mike had the car cut out at the hobby shop on base. Due to safety regulations, he couldn't use the cutter, they had to do it. The guy cut the car a bit too narrow at the wheel base. Hoping it wouldn't be a problem, they sanded, painted, sanded and painted it to perfection. It was a smooth red finish with a black stripe.

We arrived at the church just in time to take a picture with the gang. After the picture, Mike ran over to the table to add the wheels and graphite. This is when tragedy struck the "little car that couldn't". Because the wheel base was too narrow, the screws kept breaking through the wood, which meant the wheels couldn't attach. Sad and frustrated the only hope was to open up a new car and hammer in the wheels before it was Dallin's turn to race. Dallin was quite embarrassed at his new car "the block".

Two cars down from "the block" is the" little car that couldn't"
"The Block" getting ready for it's debut. We won first place on this round, and 2nd on the next round. Another 1st place then a 2nd place. This "block" was the hit of the show! Dad's who had spent hours figuring out a car design, were in awe that all they really had to do was take it from the box, slap some wheels on it, and cheer it on.
Third place over all, not a bad finish for an out- of -the box car. We enjoyed a million laughs as we cheered on what we thought was going to be the hands down loser. AT 8, being cool is everything. This car was NOT cool, but because it won some races and beat the odds, it became a legend, one that will live on forever! :)

She's 14!!!

Today Maddi turned 14. We started the day off by picking her Dad up early from work to go shopping. We headed to the pedestrian zone to go shopping. There are lots of shops to wander through. Maddi got to pick out clothes for her birthday.

This homeless man is always out sitting in front of H&M. Those rabbits are the cutest fluffy things!
We ate a yummy lunch at a bakery, and tried on some accessories......

We're all done, ready to head home.
I figured I'd attempt another cake...... I don't know how I messed this one up. I do know I forgot to take them out of the pan....I oiled the pan but didn't put flour on top. Could that have been the cause of them sticking???
With a bit of intervention, and some PAM spray, we ended up with a beautiful cake. 3rd times a charm right?
Such a beautiful girl! At 14, she can now go to the church dances. She can hardly wait to get out on the dance floor. Watch out boys...she's got some moves! :)

It's GREAT to be 8!!

Our birthday boy is EIGHT today! This is a big birthday for him, as he will be baptized by his Dad in a few weeks.
I know you are all staring at the marvelous cake being decorated by Brilee.
I should say that Brilee baked the cake, or maybe Lauryn and Maddi did.

The truth is, unfortunately...I wrecked this yummy cake. I still laugh at how ugly it turned out. I should stick to a 9X12 cake pan, it's hard to demolish those. It's been a LONG day, I was dreaming of a nap but baked the cake instead. It was delicious- that's all that matters, right??
Dallin excited to get his scriptures from Nanny and Papa.

The best part with this cake, it was already split down the middle. I didn't have to guess where to begin my slicing. AHHHH! Anyone need a cake baked? ☺☻☺
