Köln or Cologne, Germany

What could be better than a day filled with CANDY, candy and MORE CANDY?? We headed out for a fun day trip to Köln (Cologne). This city sits on the Rhine river, just over 2 hours away from our house. We LOVE Haribo candy. They seriously are the BEST gummy bears, sour candies, and everything else. Our trip began with a stop to the factory outlet.

Everyone holding their loot. This store was packed full of people partaking in the yummy goodies.
After the Haribo store, we headed to the Chocolate Factory. They produce some Lindt chocolate there for demonstration purposes. We loved reading about the history of how cocoa is manufactured and produced. The smell of chocolate was heavenly inside ! This chocolate fountain was awesome. The lady dipped wafers in the chocolate for us to try. We wanted to dip our heads and just drink.
Yum, yum, yum!
After the chocolate museum, we headed to the Cathedral. It's absolutely beautiful! It's Germany's greatest Gothic Cathedral, and Köln's most famous landmark. We're at the top, after climbing and climbing all 533 steps.
The cathedral was once the world's tallest monument, it still claims to be the world's largest church facade.
After the cathedral, we walked around the pedestrian shopping zone. This place is amazing! Tons of stores, many of our favorites. There were thousands of people, everyone out enjoying some of the last sunny day's of the season. We stopped to get some donuts. Mmm!
We love H&M!
Lauryn is always watching the ground for treasures. She usually finds rocks, lids, and small trinkets. Today, she scored 100 euro, which is equivalent to around $130.00 She found it wadded up on the ground, being kicked around and trampled over. We stood there for about 5 minutes waiting for either the hidden camera crew to jump out and surprise us with our find, or some distraut shopper hastily retracing steps to find the money. Neither showed up, not having anywhere to take the money to be returned, we headed off. She plans to buy another American Girl doll. LUCKY!
